In 1998, the Asanoka bush was created by crossing the renowned Japanese tea bush, Yabukita, with a Chinese variety called "Hiramizu #1" in Kagoshima. Renowned for its rich flavor and robust Umami notes, Asanoka Sencha is produced from leaves that undergo approximately two weeks of shading prior to the initial harvest in Kagoshima. This meticulous process results in a sencha tea with a pronounced Umami taste and delightful sweetness.
